Knowsley Local History

Visiting the Archive

The Archive is open Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 5:00pm. We are taking bookings for research sessions, which are available in 2-hour slots: 10:00am-12:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm. For more information, please go to the ‘Booking a visit to the Archive’ page. We look forward to welcoming you!

The smallest violin in the world? We found this little beauty, which measures just over 10cm, in the fabulous Paul Morris Collection. Paul Morris founded the Knowsley Youth Orchestra in 1974, and was the inspirational Adviser for Music, Drama and Choirs in Knowsley until his retirement in 1991... Wonder what else we'll find? 🎻🎶🎼

Don't forget - the Search Room will be closed for 2 weeks from Monday 6th January, reopening on Monday 20th January at 10:00am. This is so that we can undertake our annual stock take. The Archive will be open until 1:00pm on Tuesday 24th December and then closed until 10:00am on Thursday 2nd January 2025. We wish you a peaceful festive season and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
