Booking a visit to the Archive

We are delighted to welcome our researchers back to The ARK!

We are currently taking bookings for visits to the Archive on an appointment-only basis.

Bookings are available in 2-hour slots: Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10:00am-12:00 noon and 2:00pm-4:00pm; Thursday 10:00am-12:00 noon.

We have put a number of procedures in place to keep everyone safe as we continue to open up our services.

You should make your booking at least 24 hours in advance. There is currently 1 research seat available for each session. However, we can allow 1 additional seat for each appointment, on request at the time of booking.

Regrettably, we are not offering a walk in service at this time and our group and community activities remain suspended.

You must pre-order the items that you want to view at the time of booking, as we will not be able to produce additional items on the day. You can search both the online catalogue Knowsley Archives Catalogue and the analogue catalogue Archive Catalogue Archive Catalogue with Calm links for the required item references. There is guidance on using the catalogue here: Using the Analogue catalogue

Bookings can be made by telephone on 0151 443 4291 or email infoheritage@knowsley.gov.uk

You can find a map of the location and parking options here: NEW-KIRKBY-PARKING-MAP

We strongly urge you to wear a  mask or face covering throughout your visit. For further information about booking your visit and a full description of the precautions we have put in place, please see our Visitor Guidance document: Visitor Guidance updated

We look forward to seeing you!
